In Case You Missed It: Our First Summer Film Camp Was a Wrap!

Last week, The Reel Collective partnered with The Ned to host our very first Summer Filmmaking Camp — and it was nothing short of magic. Over the course of five days, six incredible students learned the fundamentals of filmmaking, wrote an original script, cast and costumed it, and fully produced a short film from start to finish.

Yes… in just five days.

This wasn’t just a camp activity — they made a real short film. One we’re proud to say will be screened again this October at the Hub City Film Festival! We hope you’ll come out and support these amazing young artists.

Beyond the final film, what stood out most was the energy, joy, and determination these students brought into the space. Watching them fall in love with filmmaking — and ask to stay involved with The Reel Collective even after camp — made all the hard work worth it.

We’re so grateful to The Ned and David for making this week possible, and to our dream team for showing up with so much care, heart, and behind-the-scenes magic. We hope this is just the beginning of something even bigger, with even more students joining us in the future.

If you're interested in being part of what we build — whether as a parent, artist, partner, or future camper — we’d love to stay connected.

More stories coming soon — but for now, we’re resting, resetting, and celebrating the heck out of these kids.

With love,
Shelby, Eli & Jessica
