“Color Book” Is Coming to the Festival!

We’re proud to announce that Color Book, the powerful debut feature from writer-director David Fortune, will screen at this year’s Hub City Film Festival.

Color Book tells the story of Lucky (played by Will Catlett), a grieving single father navigating life after the death of his wife while raising his son Mason (Jeremiah Alexander Daniels), who has Down syndrome. When Lucky decides to take Mason to his first Atlanta Braves game, what begins as a simple outing unfolds into a deeply emotional journey across the city—full of delays, detours, and beautiful moments of connection.

Shot in luminous black and white and already celebrated at Tribeca, Seattle, and Milwaukee film festivals, Color Book is a stirring portrait of fatherhood, loss, and resilience. It’s also a love letter to Atlanta and the small acts of care that shape us.

We’re excited to share that director David Fortune, producer Kiah Alexandria Clingman, and lead actor Jeremiah Alexander Daniels are all scheduled to attend the screening and join us for a post-film discussion right here in Jackson!

This special screening is made possible by a partnership with The Griot Collective, led by Wendy Mercer, who championed the film and its relevance for our community.

If you’d like to support bringing the creative team to town or want to help in other ways, reach out to Wendy at wendyisommercer@gmail.com.
