on my radar this week
Sinners currently boasts the decade’s biggest opening for an original film, as well as the 2020s’ best reviews for a wide release. Mosaku’s insider thoughts on the process of making this film is exactly what you expect and would want it to be. I am in awe of her, the whole cast really. Ryan Coogler could make a cottage cheese commercial a masterpiece, argue with yourself.
‘A Different Man’ Star Adam Pearson to Play Joseph Merrick in ‘The Elephant Man’ Film Adaptation
I got to meet and spend some time with Adam 2 years ago at Sundance Film Festival when “A Different Man” was there. One of his reps at the time, Amie Hobson, and I have been close friends for a while and I was so glad to be able to spend a few days with the both of them in Utah. Adam is a treasure and is so so talented and I can not wait to see what he brings to this project.
‘The Bodyguard’ Remake in the Works at Warner Bros.
Listen I now we are all getting fatigued with the many many many remakes coming from the industry and to be honest this one scares me a little. I was just in a conversation a few days ago about how iconic this film is and the impact it had culturally when it was released. Do I think the impact will be the same, not really… I also don’t think in any capacity that anyone should touch a Whitney Houston anything. The pressure is too much… We shall see.
First let me say that Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling are two films on my ‘LOVE IT” list. There is a lot of talk and whispers of her way of doing things and who she chooses to work with. But if you let the work speak for itself there is something more to be said. This project specifically has been in talks for a while, 2 years ago it was to star Amy Adams, Paul Rudd and Ms Tessa Thompson, not sure what happened to that version. Although a remake of a Spanish film, with names like Rashida Jones and Will McCormack on the cover page I think it’s in good hands? Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap as well… Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
